Sanitation & Recycling

The Town of Ekalaka contracts with an outside waste management company for solid waste collection.  

All garbage must be bagged, and all cardboard must be broken down! 

For garbage pickup, please get in touch with Southeast Trash Removal. This service is private, so it costs extra from what the town charges.

Transfersite (dump) hours are Tuesdays and Saturdays, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

EKALAKA TRANSFER SITE

CWD & CARCASS DISPOSAL

Location: Southwest of Ekalaka on Ekalaka Dump Road 

ACCEPTED

✓ Boned-out game animal carcasses
✓ Heads, hides, bones, and other game animal remains
✓ Carcass materials under 200 lbs.
✓ Deer and elk remains, including materials being disposed of because of CWD concerns

NOT ACCEPTED

✗ Carcasses or materials 200 lbs. or more
✗ Materials too large to safely fit in the designated transfer canister
✗ Dumping outside the designated container
✗ Prohibited or unauthorized waste

PLEASE HELP KEEP OUR TRANSFER SITE CLEAN

ALL CARCASS REMAINS MUST BE PLACED IN THE DESIGNATED TRANSFER CANISTER.

Do not leave carcasses or animal remains at the gate, beside the container, along the road, or anywhere else on Transfer Site property.

Bag or contain loose animal remains whenever practical to prevent leakage and scattering.

Hunters are responsible for following current Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks requirements regarding Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD), testing, transportation, and carcass disposal.
